Young Philanthropist Fund
The Young Philanthropist Fund (YPF) was created through a partnership with The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals and The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. The fund was created to introduce our younger generation to philanthropy by fundraising, analysis of grant requests, site visits to non-profits, and recommendation of grants to be awarded from the fund.
The board overseeing the process is comprised of representatives from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, and the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals. The board goes through the entire grantmaking process: setting distribution goals, calling for applications, reviewing requests, and awarding contributions.
In 2017, the Young Philanthropist Fund of Youngstown awarded a $4,000 grant to Making Kids Count to purchase items for their Comfort Kit program, which ensures that infants, children & teens entering the foster care system receive a hopeful start by giving them new care bags to replace items they were forced to leave behind, or never had to begin with.
